8 tips to get more Pinterest followers!

I'll have to admit I never paid much attention to growing my pinterest page! As much as I love Pinterest, I just used it to pin my own images and find inspiration. Last week I decided to do an expirement and try some simple tricks in order to grow my pinterest followers' number and drive traffic to my blog! And you know what? It worked! I went from 176 followers to 511 (521 as I'm writing this) in just one week!

Πρέπει να παραδεχτώ πως όσο κι αν μου αρεσει το Pinterest ποτέ δεν ασχολήθηκα σοβαρά στο να αυξήσω τους followers μου σε αυτο! Απλά έκανα pin τις δικές μου φωτο και χάζευα άλλες για έμπνευση! Την προηγούμενη εβδομάδα αποφάσισα να κάνω ένα "πείραμα" για να αυξήσω τους followers μου αλλά και να φέρω traffic στο blog μου. Και ξέρετε κάτι? Το πείραμα πέτυχε! Από 176 ακόλουθους τη Δευτέρα σε 511 την άλλη Δευτέρα!(521 τωρα που το γραφω αυτο)

Now I don't have to explain to your why Pinterest can be really helpful for bloggers (especially craft bloggers) do I? Also, it's easily-understood that you need to devote a couple of hours daily and be consistent to see results! That being said, here's what I did :

1. First things first, you want your own pictures pinned, so make it easy for people : install a hovering Pin-it button to appear on each of your pictures. Here's a tutorial on how to do it in blogger.

2. Create beautiful boards! Don't pin just for the sake of pinning! Don't pin only your stuff! Pin other people's pins that really interest you.

3. Pin every day!

4. Don't pin a lot at the same time! Come back and pin later through out the day. That helped me a lot!

5.Find people in your niche to follow! You can start by reviewing Pinterest's suggestions on "find friends". Usually people will follow you back but not always so if you want more followers start following more and more!

6.Follow back others! I'm not saying you should follow everyone that follows you because sometimes you just don't like what they are pinning! Chances are you have many common interests with your followers so you can follow most of them!

7.Find group boards to your niche and ask to join if possible! This worked really good for me since not only I got to pin my own pins to a group board that had many followers but I also found many people with the same interests to follow! 8.Create more boards! A mistake I made when creating a pinterest account for my blog was I made a few boards all relevant to my blog's content. When I started creating more boards about other things that really interest me personally, people would follow me more! For example I don't cook much but I love to eat (lol) so I like to pin beautiful photos of recipes (that I may some day try to make!). Creating a beautiful board with recipes even got people to invite me to pin on group boards about recipes! Same thing happened when I created a board about fitness!

Δεν χρειάζεται νομίζω να σας αναλύσω γιατι το Pinterest είναι τόσο σημαντικό για έναν blogger (ειδικά craft blogger) χρειάζεται? Επίσης είναι ευκόλως εννοούμενο πως πρέπει να αφιερώσετε κάποιες ωρες σε αυτο κάθε μέρα και να ειστε συνεπείς! Να τι άλλο προτείνω :

1. Πρώτα, πρώτα σίγουρα θέλετε οι άλλοι να κανουν pin τις δικές σας φωτο σωστά? Οπότε πρέπει να τους το κάνετε εύκολο εγκαθιστώντας ένα κουμπι "pin it" που θα βρίσκουν καθως περνάνε το ποντίκι τους πάνω στη φωτο σας. Η Μάχη έχει εδώ έναν οδηγό βήμα-βήμα για το πως να το κανετε αν είστε στον blogger.

2.Φτιάξτε όμορφους πίνακες με πράγματα που πραγματικά σας ενδιαφέρουν! Μην κάνετε pin απλά για να γεμίσετε τον πίνακα! Επίσης κάντε pin και άλλων τη δουλειά, όχι μόνο τη δικιά σας.

3. Pin κάθε μέρα!

4.Μην κάνετε pin όλα μαζί και σε μια συγκεκριμένη ώρα! Επισκεφτείτε τη σελίδα σε διαφορετικές ώρες της ημέρας. Αυτό δούλεψε πολύ για μένα!

5.Βρείτε ανθρώπους με κοινά ενδιαφέροντα για να ακολουθήσετε. Ξεκινήστε από τις "προτάσεις" του pinterest. Συνήθως θα σας ακολουθήσουν και εκείνοι αλλά όχι πάντα οπότε αν θέλετε περισσότερους ακόλουθους, ακολουθήστε περισσότερους!

6.Ακολουθήστε όσους σας ακολουθουν! Φυσικά και δε λέω ότι πρέπει να τους ακολουθήσετε όλους αν δεν σας αρέσουν οι επιλογές τους αλλά οι πιθανότητες είναι να έχετε πολλά κοινά με όσους σας ακολουθούν!

7.Βρείτε "ομαδικούς πίνακες" στον τομέα του ενδιαφέροντός σας και ζητήστε να σας συμπεριλάβουν αν υπάρχει η δυνατότητα (όσοι δέχονται καινούρια άτομα συνήθως γράφουν στην περιγραφή τον τρόπο). Οι ομαδικοί πίνακες ειναι πίνακες όπου ο δημιουργός καλεί και άλλους να προσθέσουν pin σε αυτόν. Αν αυτός ο πίνακας έχει πολλούς ακόλουθους φαντάζεστε πόσο μακρυα μπορεί να φτάσει το δικό σας pin? 8. Φτιάξε πολλούς και διαφορετικούς πίνακες! Ένα λάθος που έκανα όταν εφτιαξα τη σελίδα του blog μου είναι ότι εφτιαξα λίγους πίνακες που αφορούσαν μόνο ότι έγραφα στο blog. Στην πορεία έφτιαξα και άλλους πίνακες με γενικότερα ενδιαφέροντα και άρχισαν να με ακολουθούν περισσότεροι! Για παράδειγμα μου αρέσει να κάνω pin συνταγές (αν και δεν τις φτιάχνω μου αρέσει να τρωω χαχα) έτσι ο πίνακας μου αυτός οδήγησε μέχρι και στο να με προσθέσουν σε ομαδικούς πίνακες συνταγων! Το ίδιο συνέβη και όταν εφτιαξα πίνακα με συμβουλές fitness.

I'm definitely not an expert on Pinterest and all the advice I gave you was the result of my weekly expirement. They really worked for me and that's why I'm sharing them. How to make a glitter bunting with Picmonkey!

A severe back pain and a cold (all at the same time) has kept me from making my crafts this week! (I have so many things I want to do!) I try to stay in bed as much as I can (but it seems really impossible) so I kept myself busy by making a summer printable. I wanted to incoporate a bunting in my printable and even thought Picmonkey has a bunch of them to pick, I needed a glitter one! So I'm sharing with you a way to make your own glitter (or any other textured) bunting with Picmonkey! Seriously you can use numerous textures and pictures to make this.

Ένας πόνος στην πλάτη και ενα κρυολόγημα (ναι και τα δυο μαζι) με εχουν καθηλώσει και δεν μπόρεσα αυτη την εβδομάδα να κάνω καμια κατασκευή! (και ήθελα τόσα να κάνω!) Προσπαθώ να μένω ξαπλωμένη αλλά όπως καταλαβαίνετε αυτό είναι σχεδόν αδύνατο! Έτσι αντι για κατασκευές αποφάσισα να φτιάξω ενα εκτυπώσιμο καλοκαιρινό! Ήθελα να χρησιμοποιήσω μια γιρλάντα με σημαιάκια και παρόλο που το Picmonkey εχει αρκετές για να διαλέξεις, εγω ήθελα μια γκλιτερ! Έτσι σήμερα θα σας δείξω πώς την έφτιαξα μόνη μου! Οι οδηγίες παρακάτω είναι στα αγγλικά αλλά επειδή και το picmonkey είναι στα Αγγλικά δεν βρήκα το λόγο να τις μεταφράσω! Αν κάτι δεν είναι ξεκάθαρο, ρωτήστε με!

First you need to find a glitter (or any other) picture you like and save it to your computer. I used this and this. (you can use more than 2). Please make sure the images you use are offered free and always check their terms of use. Open Picmonkey and choose design - square. On the canvas color option don't forget to check "transparent".

Then go to textures and choose "your own" and upload your picture.Then choose "Frames"-"shape cutouts"-triangle and a triangle with your texture will appear.

Save it as PNG. Repeat this steps to make as many different triangles you like. Next we are creating a line. I couldn't find a line I wanted so I got creative! Choose overlays - geometric and pick the oval shape.

Resize and move your oval around and place it as you see in the picture below. Using the pop-up menu change the colours to colour 1=black and colour 2=transparent.

Using the "eraser" option again from the pop-up menu, erase the above lines and create this curved line you see below. I also changed it's colour.

Next we are going to attach those triangles we made (remember?). From the overlay menu-choose "open my own" and upload your first triangle. You can turn it upside down using the arrows at the pop-up menu.

Move it around to attach it to the line as you see below.

Repeat this step to upload another triangle and place it next to the first one. For the third triangle and so on you don't need to upload more! Using right click on each of the triangles and the option "dublicate overlay" you just basically copy the triangles and then place them wherever you like.

And that's what it will look like when finished : (don't forget to save as PNG)

I was thrilled with the outcome and this is so versatile! You can use any picture you like, you can make your bunting floral, metallic etc. The possibilites are endless! And who doesn't love bunting? It's great for birthday party invitations or even for creating a printable bunting for your party!

Το αποτέλεσμα με ενθουσίασε! ¨Ηταν ακριβως ότι ήθελα! Με αυτό τον τρόπο μπορείς να φτιάξεις δεκάδες διαφορετικές γιρλάντες, οι δυνατότητες είναι αμέτρητες! Και σε ποιον δεν αρέσουν αυτές οι γιρλάντες με τα σημαιάκια? Είναι τέλειες για προσκλητήρια γενεθλιών ή ακόμη μπορείτε να φτιάξετε αληθινά εκτυπωμένα σημαιάκια όπως τα θέλετε!

How to make an easy blog header using Picmonkey! - Φτιάχνουμε εύκολη κεφαλίδα για το blog μας με το picmonkey!

Since I've started this blog I've changed my header countless times! What can I say I guess I haven't found the ONE yet! (but I kinda like the one I have now, I made it myself!) For those of you who want an easy and cute new blog header, here is an idea using what else? The fabulous, Picmonkey ! It's very easy even if you've never used it before.

Από τότε που άρχισα αυτο το blog πρέπει να εχω αλλάξει την κεφαλίδα του δεκάδες φορές! Τι να πω μάλλον δεν μπορω να αποφασίσω τι μου αρέσει! Αν και η τωρινη μου αρεσει πολυ! Για πείτε μου κι εσεις τη γνώμη σας! Σήμερα σας ετοίμασα ένα tutorial για να φτιάξετε μια κεφαλίδα χρησιμοποιώντας τι άλλο? Το υπέροχο Picmonkey! Aν δεν το έχετε χρησιμοποιήσει, μη φοβάστε είναι πανεύκολο!

First things first, you should decide it's size. It's size depends on your blog's dimensions and on the blog template you've chosen. To find out your blog's width in Blogger, go to Layout - blogger template editor - adjust widths. You can choose the height you want. (a good height would be under 350 px.)

Αρχικά, αποφασίστε το μέγεθος της κεφαλίδας σας. Το μέγεθος εξαρτάται απο το template που εχετε επιλέξει. Για να βρείτε το σωστό πλάτος, πηγαίνετε διαταξη-εργαλειο σχ. προτυπων-προσαρμογη ευρους (μιλάμε πάντα για τον blogger). Το ύψος το επιλέγετε εσείς αν και είναι καλο να το κρατήσετε κάτω απο 350 px.

Open Picmonkey and choose design - custom - enter the dimensions. The first thing you should definitely do is make the image PNG (transparent). You do that by going at basic edits-canvas color-check the transparent canvas.

Ανοίξτε το Picmonkey και επιλέξτε design - custom - γραψτε τις διαστάσεις. Το πρώτο που πρέπει οπωσδήποτε να κάνετε, είναι να κάνετε την εικόνα σας PNG (με διαφανές φόντο). Για να το κάνετε αυτό πηγαίνεται basic edits-canvas color-τσεκ στο κουτάκι που γράφει transparent canvas

I'm going to show you a simple specific design but you can customise it easily. It's just an example of what you can do. Go to Overlays and choose dashed & lined and pick the line you see in this picture. When you click on an overlay you can then easily adjust it's size and place it wherever you like using the pop-up menu.

Αυτό που θα σας δείξω είναι ενα συγκεκριμένο σχέδιο που μπορείτε εύκολα να φέρεται στα μέτρα σας. Είναι απλά ένα παράδειγμα για να δείτε τι μπορείτε να κάνετε. Επιλέγετε από τα Overlays - Dashed & Lined και διαλέξτε τη γραμμη που σας δείχνω εδω. Όταν επιλέγετε ένα overlay μπορείτε εύκολα να αλλάξετε το μέγεθός του και να το τοποθετήσετε όπου θέλετε από το pop-up μενου που βγαίνει.

Place it somewhere in the left and then click on it and use the "eraser" option you see on the "overlay" pop-up. With the "eraser" erase carefully the small arrow at the tip of the line. We want it to look like a line and not an arrow.

Τοποθετήστε τη γραμμή σας κάπου στα αριστερά και επιλέξτε το "eraser" απο το pop-up μενου. Με το "eraser" σβήστε προσεκτικά το βελάκι στην άκρη της γραμμής. Θέλουμε να μοιάζει με γραμμή και όχι με βελάκι.

Now make that line small enough so that it takes about 1/3 of the total width of your picture, right click and choose "dublicate overlay" from the drop-down menu. This will add another line exactly the same with the first one.

Αλλάξτε το μέγεθος της γραμμής ώστε να είναι σχεδον το 1/3 του συνολικού σας μεγέθους. Πατώντας πάνω στη γραμμή, με δεξι κλικ θα σας εμφανιστεί ένα μενού από το οποίο επιλέγετε "dublicate overlay". Αυτό θα αντιγράψει τη γραμμή σας και θα εμφανίσει μια ακόμη ίδια.

Move that line next to the first one so that it looks like that 2 lines are one.

Κολληστε αυτη τη γραμμή δίπλα στην πρώτη ώστε να φαίνονται σαν μια γραμμή.

Now from the "overlay" menu again, choose "butterflies" as you see below, choose one and place it at the top right of our picture.

Από το μενου "overlay" παλι, διαλέξτε "butterflies", διαλεξτε μια απο αυτές και τοποθετήστε την στα δεξιά λίγο πάνω απο τις γραμμές.

We want our butterfly to join the lines and for that we are using another line like the ones used before. Using our eraser again, we'll erase the most of the that line leaving a small part.

Θέλουμε να ενώσουμε την πεταλούδα με τις γραμμές οπότε θα χρησιμοποιήσουμε άλλη μια φορά την ίδια γραμμή. Με το εργαλείο "eraser" θα σβήσουμε το περισσότερο κομμάτι της γραμμής αφήνωντας ενα μικρο.

Next, move around that small line to make it point to the butterfly and to seem like it's joined to the other lines.Also move around the butterfly if needed.

Έπειτα, μετακινήστε τη γραμμή και την πεταλούδα ώστε να τα κάνετε να φαίνονται πως ενώνονται όλα τα στοιχεία και με τις προηγούμενες γραμμές.

You can also change the colours of all those overlays, just by clicking on them and choosing the colour from the pop-up menu.

Μπορείτε να αλλάξετε και τα χρώματα όλων των στοιχείων που χρησιμοποιήσαμε απλά κάνοντας κλικ επάνω στο καθένα και διαλέγοντας χρώμα απο το pop-up menu.

Next, we are adding the text. Choose the "text" option on the left, choose the font you like (you can change the font later), and press "add text". Start writing your text on that space and then you can change the font, the size, the colour and offcourse move it around easily.

Ήρθε η ώρα να προσθέσουμε κείμενο. Με την επιλογή "text" από την αριστερή στήλη, επιλέγουμε τη γραμματοσειρά που μας αρέσει και πατάμε "add text" (δυστυχως οι γραμματοσειρές του picmonkey δεν υποστηρίζουν Ελληνικά.) Στις γραμματοσειρές βέβαια υπάρχει και η επιλογή "yours" που σημαίνει πως διαβάζει και τις γραμματοσειρές που υπάρχουν στον υπολογιστή σας από τις οποίες κάποιες θα υποστηρίζουν και Ελληνικά. Γράψτε το κείμενο σας και χρησιμοποιήστε το pop-up μενου για να του αλλάξετε μέγεθος, χρώμα κλπ. Επίσης μπορείτε να το μετακινήσετε και αυτό όπου θέλετε.

Στο τέλος αποφάσισα να βάλω το κείμενο μου στην κάτω πλευρά!

In a previous post I gathered 20 websites you can submit your craft tutorials and bring traffic to your blog. I found some more and I wanted to share them with you since you really liked my first post!

Σε προηγούμενη ανάρτηση σας είχα προτείνει 20 site που μπορείτε να υποβάλετε τις κατασκευές σας για να αυξήσετε την επισκεψιμότητα του blog σας. Επειδή πολλές με ρωτήσατε, από ότι ειδα πολλά από αυτα δέχονται και τα άρθρα στα Ελληνικά αρκεί να υπάρχουν καθαρές και αρκετές εικόνες. UPDATED : 20+ websites to submit your craft tutorials and bring traffic to your blog!

If you are a craft blogger and you make tutorials you know it requires a lot of work! And when you hit "publish" you hope many many people read it! But you also know it's hard to spread the word out there and attrack attention to your work.You need to use all resources available. A good idea is to submit your projects to link parties! Another thing you can do is submit your projects to sites that feature them and link back to your blog. I have put together a list of some of those sites and I wanted to share it with you.

Αν είσαι blogger και ασχολείσαι με τις κατασκευές ξέρεις πως το κάθε ποστ απαιτεί πολλή δουλειά! Και όταν πατάς "δημοσίευση" σίγουρα εύχεσαι να το δει όσο περισσότερος κόσμος γίνεται! Αλλά ξέρεις και πόσο δύσκολο είναι αυτό οπότε πρέπει να χρησιμοποιήσεις όποιο μέσο υπάρχει διαθέσιμο. Εκτός απο τα λινκ πάρτυ στα οποία μπορείς να συμμετέχεις μια καλή ιδέα είναι να ζητήσεις να δημοσιευτεί η κατασκευή σου στα site που υπάρχουν και φιλοξενούν δωρεάν διάφορες κατασκευές αλλά με λινκ στην πηγή. Μάζεψα λοιπόν διάφορα τέτοια site (τα καλύτερα κατά τη γνώμη μου) και τα μοιράζομαι μαζί σας.
